MIAA SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT

MIAA SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT: Scots Eliminated by Hope, 4-0

May 2, 2008

Alma, Mich.- Facing elimination in the MIAA Tournament, the Alma College Scots (25-11) couldn't get anything going offensively as they fell to the Hope College Flying Dutch (25-13) by the score of 4-0.

Deidra Enochs (Summerfield, Fla./Belleview) got the start for the Dutch and held them to only four hits in the complete game shut out to improve to 10-4 on the year.

Tara Leddy (Saginaw/Swan Valley) pitched a solid game for the Scots, allowing four runs on seven hits while striking out three, but simply got no run support as she picked up her sixth loss of the season.

Kylee Brouwer (Hudsonville), Kelli Duimstra (Hudsonville), and Beth Yahraus (Bryan, Oh./Bryan) each had two for three days for the Dutch and Yahraus had a homerun in the win.

Box Score

With the loss, the Scots fall out of contention for the MIAA Automatic Qualifying bid to the NCAA Tournament and must wait to see if they receive an at large. However, if Hope wins the MIAA Tournament, the Scots could still receive a piece of the MIAA Championship. Hope and Tri-State will face off at 2:00 p.m. with the turn around game immediately following if necessary.
