MIAA SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT: Hope Eliminates Saint Mary's, 7-1
May 1, 2008
Alma, Mich.- The Hope College Flying Dutch (24-13) didn't mess around in ensuring that they would be around for day two of play as they defeated the #2 seed Saint Mary's Belles (23-10) by the score of 7-1.
Hope jumped out in front early with a three run first and then added four more over the fifth and sixth innings to ease into the second round win.
Sophomore pitcher, Deidra Enochs (Summerfield, Fla./Belleview), improved to 9-4 on the season with her four hit, one run, and one strike out winning performance for the Dutch.
McKenna Corrigan (Weslake, Oh./Magnificat) got the start and gave up three runs in two innings for the Belles and picked up the loss.
The middle of Hopes lineup was absolutely devastating in this game as they collectively went 12 for 18 and were responsible for all of the RBI's.
Hope will play the winner of tonight's game between the Scots and the Thunder tomorrow at noon.
