ALMA MEN'S GOLF FINISHES 5TH IN MIAA JAMBOREE

Alma Men's golf team was on the road for MIAA Jamboree #5 Saturday at the Zollner Golf Course in Trine and finished fifth with a team score of 309, just a few strokes off fourth place.

Bryan McKenney and Chris Pronick paced the Scots with scores of 74 and 76 respectively while Kyle Travis added a 77. Alma has two Jamboree's remaining on the season and look to finish strong.

"We keep improving each week and I am proud of the guys as they strive to get better," said Alma Head Coach Ryan Duckworth. "I am really looking forward to the final competitions and to see what we can accomplish as a team."

The next Jamboree is scheduled for September 29, hosted by Hope College, beginning at 1:00 p.m.

 

Alma College students report levels of educational experiences and faculty interaction that exceed the national norms by significant amounts, according to the findings of the 2007 National Survey of Student Engagement. In the 2006 study, Alma students reported a level of interaction with faculty that ranked among the top five percent in the nation.

Chris Hamstra

Coach Hamstra graduated from Hope College in 2004 with a B.A. in Accounting. During his time at Hope, Hamstra was a four year student-athlete, received All-MIAA honors and was also named to the All-American team. Hamstra was also a member of MIAA Championship teams and brings that winning attitude and work ethic to his new position.

After graduation, Hamstra served as an assistant coach for Hope’s Swimming and Diving Program under Dr. John Patnott. Hamstra credits Dr. Patnott with helping him to understand the science of swimming and also the importance of season long work out plans. “As an assistant in his program, I was given the freedom to implement my own workouts into the system, providing me with insight into what it takes to develop season long plans.”
