Alma Shoots 322 In First MIAA Jamboree of Season

ALBION, Mich.
- The Alma College men's golf team opened MIAA action with a team score of 322, paced by Corbin Swiastyn's (Gagetown/Owen-Gage) 77 - good for eighth in overall individual standings. 

Rounding out other scorers, Evan Kay (St. Albert, Alberta/Paul Kane) and Kyle Travis (Shepherd) carded 79 while Nate Moulton (Newberry) shot 87.

The Scots return to action with a dual meet at their home course - Pine River Country Club - on Sept. 11 against Aquinas.

 

Alma students can explore the environmental wonders of the Galapagos Islands, practice Spanish language skills, study Ecuadorian culture, complete coursework in business finance, and fulfill a South American internship in entrepreneurship through Alma College’s one-of-a-kind partnership with Equatorialis University in Quito, Ecuador.

Jeff Hosler

Jeff Hosler '02 joined the Alma College Athletics staff as the Scots women's soccer coach in 2006 and has helped the Maroon and Cream rise as one of the most talented young teams in the MIAA.

In his time at Alma, Hosler became one of the best players in the 30 years of Scots soccer. He remains the all-time assists leader and ranks in the top ten in career goals and in the top five in career points. He helped the Scots to their second MIAA title, first-ever NCAA Regional Championship and first-ever NCAA Final Four appearance in 1999 en route to first team All-MIAA and third team All-Mideast Region honors. He would go on to earn first team All-MIAA accolades again in 2001 and was named to the conference's second team in 2000.
