ALMA MEN'S BASKETBALL DROPS A 77-62 DECISION TO ADRIAN COLLEGE ON WEDNESDAY

The Scots Men’s basketball team continued MIAA play on Wednesday evening, when they traveled to play Adrian College. The Scots came away on the wrong end of a 77-62 score, as the Bulldogs improved to 4-7 in league action and 7-14 overall. The Scots fell to 3-8 in the MIAA and 5-16 in 2008-09.

Adrian led by a score of 39-33 at halftime but never allowed the Scots to take the lead, eventually pulling away in the final frame. Alma hung tough for most of the second half and was able to cut the Adrian lead to 49-47 at the 12:01 mark when Sr. F Matt Brown (Midland, MI/Midland) hit a three-pointer.

However, the home team was not going to let this one slip away and proceeded to go on a 9-0 run to take an 11-point lead at 58-47, four minutes later. The Scots could not get closer than eight points the rest of the way, and Adrian ran out the clock and walked away with the 15-point victory.

For the game, the Bulldogs shot a sizzling 60%, on 30 of 50 shooting, including seven of 16 from beyond the three-point line, while Alma connected on 47% of their shots (22 of 47) and was six on 19 on three-pointers. Rebounds were basically even, with the Bulldogs owning a 28-27 advantage, and the Scots had 15 turnovers to Adrian’s 10.

On the scoring ledger, So. G Jordan Redditt (Brighton, MI/Jesuit), led all Scots players with 29 points, as he was good on 11 of 18 shots, including three of seven three-pointers. Brown had 14 points on the evening, while Sr. F Ryan DeHaan (Rockford, MI/Rockford) contributed 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds.

Alma will host Hope College on Saturday afternoon at Cappaert Gymnasium beginning at 3:00 p.m.
