MEN'S BASKETBALL: Scots Take Hornets to the Buzzer, Fall 64-59

Jan. 9, 2008

Alma, Mi.- In their conference opener, the Scots (0-10, 0-1) hosted Kalamazoo College (4-7, 1-0) in a game that went right down to the buzzer and gave all in attendance more than their money's worth.

Defense dominated the first half of play as both teams shot under 40% from the field and went into the half tied up at 24. The second half was a different story as the Scots and Kalamazoo both found their rythm and put up 75 total points in the second period. Despite their aggressive, relentless play, the Scots couldn't find a way to finish in the end and fell by the final score of 64-59.

Leading the way for the Scots was freshman Jordan Redditt (Detroit) who matured in front of the crowds eyes as he put up 15 points and took care of the ball and distributed at the point for Alma ending with five assists in the game. Senior Josh Shattuck (Spring Lake) also played well for the Scots and hit some hug buckets on his way to an 11 point performance. Junior Matt Brown (Midland) and freshman Ted Deyoung (Grand Rapids/Northview) played strong inside for the Scots and ended with 19 boards and 10 points between them.

The Scots have a few days to rebound before hosting Calvin College this Saturday for a 3:00 p.m. tip-off.
