First Collegiate GreenPlay Floor

Basketball Court Will Have First Collegiate GreenPlay Floor

Alma College is the first college or university in the nation to select a GreenPlay wood flooring system for its basketball arena. Here are the highlights:

  • GreenPlay meets and exceeds the most demanding performance standard in the world for athletic floors.

  • Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is a rating system established by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). GreenPlay provides a greater contribution toward LEED Credit Points than any other hardwood athletic flooring system.

  • GreenPlay subfloor panels are manufactured from 100 percent recycled engineered polymer and offer the capability to be recycled again in the future when the life of the floor is complete.

  • Alma College enhanced its environmental selection by requiring hard maple flooring from sustainably managed forests certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).

  • GreenPlay’s resilient pads and steel channel anchorage further contribute to recycled content.

  • Connor Sports Flooring is located in Amasa, a town in Michigan’s Western Upper Peninsula, which also qualifies the wood floor system for LEED Regional Material Credit.

  • Connor Sports Flooring is the “Official Court Surface of the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Final Four.” This year’s men’s Final Four was played in Detroit.

Alma students can explore the environmental wonders of the Galapagos Islands, practice Spanish language skills, study Ecuadorian culture, complete coursework in business finance, and fulfill a South American internship in entrepreneurship through Alma College's one-of-a-kind partnership with Equatorialis University in Quito, Ecuador.
