LB ZACH COMER NAMED MIAA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK IN FOOTBALL

The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Alma College linebacker Zach Comer its Defensive Player of the Week for games on Saturday, October 25.

Comer, a senior from Alma, MI (Alma HS), made 11 tackles, nine of them solo, in leading the Scots’ defense in their 28-25 victory over Olivet. Three of Comer’s tackles were for losses.

Comer was joined as Player of the Week by Kalamazoo College wide receiver Jimmy Semelsberger (Offensive) and Adrian College punter Kevin Allaer (Special Teams) as its Players of the Week in football.

The Scots (2-1 MIAA, 4-3 overall) host the Adrian College Bulldogs (3-0 MIAA, 6-1 overall) in an important MIAA tilt on Saturday at Bahlke Field, with a 1:00 p.m. kickoff.

More than 100 Alma College students and staff traveled to destinations in South Carolina, Kansas, Tennessee, and Texas for service projects during winter break in February 2009. "Alternative Break service experiences continue to gain popularity on Alma College's campus," says Sallie Scheide, assistant director in the Center for Responsible Leadership.
