Josh Brehm Aces Pro Day Workout in Ann Arbor

ALMA, Mich. – Alma College alumnus Josh Brehm of Ithaca, Mich., is working to make his dreams of playing professional football come to fruition, putting on a strong show Friday (Mar. 16) at a professional workout day hosted at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Brehm set numerous records at Alma College, in the MIAA and NCAA en route to earning the 2006 Gagliardi Trophy, Morley Fraser Award, Don Hansen’s Football Gazette All-America honors and a 2007 Post-Graduate Scholarship. Since graduating from Alma in December 2006, Brehm has worked out in Canton, Mich., in preparation for last week’s workout – and it has paid off.

“The day went really well,” remarked Brehm. “Now it’s talking to teams and getting them as much information as they need. They could request private workouts – which is a pretty good sign. For now, it’s just a waiting game until the draft.”

The NFL draft. Set for April 28-29, 2007, Brehm will have over a month to refine his skills and show teams in private workout sessions his arm strength and football savvy.

Contacted by 15 teams since his workout on Friday, Brehm worked out in front of at least 75 NFL personnel with about 20 other players, including Adrian’s Taz Wallace.

“For the next month, it’s a matter of staying in shape and staying ready,” said Brehm. “A team could call for a workout at any time and I will be ready. For now, I’m training and staying in shape and optimistic about the draft in April.”

Brehm led the Scots to the 2004 MIAA Championship and a 6-4 record in 2007, throwing 30 touchdowns to just three interceptions.

Alma College boasts a 12-to-1 student-to-teacher ratio, a liberal arts approach to undergraduate education, 28 academic majors, self-designed programs of emphasis, pre-professional programs in law and medicine, and an intensive Spring Term that provides opportunities for innovative courses, travel classes, research and internships.
