Joe Cline Named Third Team Associated Press Little All-American

ALMA, Mich. - It seems a quarterback can't get passing yards without a go-to receiver - and the nation has noticed.

Junior wide receiver Joe Cline (Ithaca) has been named a third team All-American by the Associated Press in its annual list of "AP Little All America".

Cline played in 10 games this season, catching 98 passes for 1,256 yards and 17 touchdowns, averaging 12.8 yards per catch and 125.6 yards per game. He ended the season leading NCAA Division III in receiving yards per game and receptions per game and through Dec. 9, his 1,256 yards were second only to Wesley College's Michael Clark with 1,304 (Wesley played to a 13-1 record this season).

Cline was named a first team All-MIAA wide receiver for the second consecutive season and was twice named an MIAA Player of the Week in 2006.

Today, Cline was announced as a third team AP Little All-American and was named a finalist for The Melberger Award, given annually by the Downtown Wilkes-Barre Touchdown Club of Scranton, Pa. to the top player in Division III football. Read the Scranton Times-Tribune article here.

The award is presented by Diversified Information Technologies and is named for Clifford K. Melberger, Captain of Bucknell University's 1960 Lambert Cup-winning team and president of Diversified.

Cline is one of five finalists, along with teammate and 2006 Gagliardi Trophy winner, Josh Brehm, also of Ithaca.

More than 100 Alma College students and staff traveled to destinations in Georgia, Tennessee, Florida and Mississippi for service projects during winter break in February 2008. Alternative Break service experiences continue to gain popularity on Alma College’s campus,” says Sallie Scheide, assistant director in the Center for Responsible Leadership.
