Josh Brehm Named ESPN The Magazine Second Team Academic All-American

ALMA, Mich. For the first time in over six years, an Alma College student-athlete has received ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America distinction as senior quarterback Josh Brehm (Ithaca) garnered second team Academic All-America honors, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday.

Student-athletes are honored at the University and College levels with first and second team distinctions. Brehm maintains a 3.78 grade point average and is a double major in business and psychology. He has been named to the Dean's List each of the last seven semesters and has maintained a 4.0 gpa in the last three semesters. This season, he set new NCAA standards, including most pass attempts without an interception (288). He exits Alma College as the all-time leader in total offense and passing yards.

Over the Thanksgiving holiday, Brehm was featured in the East Coast Bowl, a bowl game showcasing the most talented players in Divisions I-AA, II and III. Brehm played on the South squad, going 20-for-28 with 240 yards passing and two touchdowns. His scores included a 12-yard scamper in the third quarter and an 11-yard pass later in the same period.

Brehm is on the scouting radar as a 'small school wonder' and continues to pursue a continued career in football as he finishes his undergraduate work.

Alma is one of only 100 colleges and universities to be named to the Templeton Honor Roll in the Templeton Guide: Colleges That Encourage Character Development.
