Kyle Ryan of Reese Named MIAA Offensive Player of the Week

ALMA, Mich. - Junior running back Kyle Ryan of Reese (Reese HS) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against Wittenberg last weekend.

Ryan accounted for more than 200 yards of offense in the Scots’ 42-14 loss to Wittenberg. He rushed for 127 yards on 19 carries and scored a touchdown, catching eight passes for 97 yards with a long of 28 yards.

This is the third consecutive week an Alma player has been named MIAA Offensive player of the week.

The Scots return to action this Saturday when they open MIAA play at Tri-State University in Angola, Ind.

 

Since 2003, twenty-three Alma College students have won prestigious national fellowships, scholarships and awards, including 13 Fulbright fellowships and multiple Udall, Truman, Marshall and Gates-Cambridge scholarships.

Jim Cole '74 enters his 17th season at the helm of the Scots. In 2004, Cole led the Scots to the MIAA title and a berth in the NCAA Division III national playoffs, the second time in three years the Maroon and Cream advanced to the NCAA postseason.

A former All-MIAA and All-District quarterback for the Scots, Cole draws on the championship experiences of playing for the 1970, '71 and '72 MIAA co-champions and coaching the 1988 co-champ's defense.

Cole sports a career mark of 105-67-0, making him Alma's winningest football coach.
