Joe Cline Named MIAA Offensive Player of the Week

ALMA, Mich. - Junior wide receiver Joe Cline of Ithaca has been named the MIAA Offensive Player of the Week, the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) announced today. Cline caught 13 passes for 175 yards as the Scots lost a narrow 32-31 decision to Cornell College on Sept. 9 at Bahlke Field.

Cline notched two touchdown receptions on the day, catches of 38 and 44 yards, respectively.

The Scots return to action Saturday (Sept. 16) when they host the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire at Bahlke Field. Kickoff is slated for 12 p.m. 

 

The Corporation for National and Community Service named Alma College to the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll With Distinction for exemplary service efforts and service to disadvantaged youth. The Honor Roll is the highest federal recognition a school can achieve for its commitment to service-learning and civic engagement.

Jim Cole '74 enters his 17th season at the helm of the Scots. In 2004, Cole led the Scots to the MIAA title and a berth in the NCAA Division III national playoffs, the second time in three years the Maroon and Cream advanced to the NCAA postseason.

A former All-MIAA and All-District quarterback for the Scots, Cole draws on the championship experiences of playing for the 1970, '71 and '72 MIAA co-champions and coaching the 1988 co-champ's defense.

Cole sports a career mark of 105-67-0, making him Alma's winningest football coach.
