Athletic Alum Keith Froelich '75 Earns MHSFCA 2006 Crowley Award

ALMA, Mich. – Alma College alumnus Keith Froelich of Okemos is the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association 2006 Jim Crowley Memorial Award winner, the organization announced recently.

The Jim Crowley Award is given in memory of the late former head coach at Jackson Lumen Christi High School, a great coach and dedicated family man who was tragically killed at the height of his career. The award honors individuals who have made special contributions to the game of football and the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association. This is the MHSFCA’s highest award.

A 1975 graduate of Alma College and a 1971 graduate of Portage Central High School, Froelich earned three varsity letters on the gridiron for the Scots and was an All-MIAA and All-NAIA honoree.

In 1982 he became head football coach at Okemos High School and has served as a social studies teacher, chairman of the Physical Education/Health Department and since 1995 Athletic Director of Okemos High School. In his 21 years as a head coach at Okemos, he compiled a record of 130-64, along with eight league championships and five playoff appearances.

Alma College boasts a 12-to-1 student-to-teacher ratio, a liberal arts approach to undergraduate education, 28 academic majors, self-designed programs of emphasis, pre-professional programs in law and medicine, and an intensive Spring Term that provides opportunities for innovative courses, travel classes, research and internships.
