Assistant Coach Dan Merian '07

Dan Merian, one year removed from an outstanding career as an outfielder for the Scots, joins the Alma College Baseball Staff for the 2008 season.

Merian was a four year letter winner in baseball at Alma College and served as Co-Captain as a senior and was also named the team MVP during that 2007 season.

Merian brings a knowledge of baseball and of what it takes to succeed on the diamond and in the classroom. A knowledge that he hopes to pass on to a freshman heavy Maroon and Cream Squad.

Merian earned his B.A. in Economics and Mathematics from Alma College in 2007 and is currently working on a Masters in Economics at Central Michigan University.

 

Alma College's teacher preparation program has received an "exemplary" rating following a comprehensive review by the Michigan Department of Education.

Judd Folske

Judd Folske

Judd Folske is entering his first year as Alma College Head Baseball Coach in the 2007-2008 season after spending two years as an assistant coach with the program. Coach Folske joined the Maroon and Cream in the fall of 2005 after stops at NCAA Division I Central Michigan University, and stints at Div. II schools Saginaw Valley State University and Ferris State University. He also serves the athletic department as assistant athletic director.

While head coach of the CMU Chippewas, Folske posted a 131-98 mark. In 2000, he finished in a tie for first in the MAC conference with a record of 41-17 (18-8). Folske retired after the 2003 season at CMU, and went to work as an assistant at SVSU, where he worked in that capacity for two seasons.
