LEAGUE CO-BATTING CHAMP, ALMA 3B JEREMY STEPHENS NAMED TO FIRST-TEAM ALL-MIAA BASEBALL TEAM
Alma Senior Third Baseman Jeremy Stephens was named First Team All-MIAA on Monday afternoon after a vote by the league’s coaches. The Co-Batting Champion for the MIAA was named to the first team for the second consecutive season, as he finished the 2009 campaign with a .474 average in league play.
Stephens, from Maple Rapids, MI (Fulton-Middleton), led the MIAA with 46 hits, was tied for second with ten doubles and tied for second with 61 total bases. He also added 22 RBI’s, which was good for a tie for eighth in the league, while his seven stolen bases was good for a four-way tie in the MIAA. In addition, his .500 on base percentage percentage was fifth in the league, while his slugging percentage of .629 was fourth in the league.
