BASEBALL: Jeremy Stephens Named First Team All-MIAA

May 12, 2008

Alma, Mich.- Junior thirdbaseman Jeremy Stephens (Maple Rapids/Fulton-Middleton) was named to the 2008 All-MIAA First Team for his play at the hot corner for the Scots during the 2008 season.

Stephens was the Scots most consistent hitter all year as he hit a team high .415 overall and .395 in conference play while making the switch from shortstop to thirdbase. Stephens also led the Scots in slugging percentage with .534 and had one of the teams best on base percentages with a .485. His on base percentage and batting average were both top three numbers in the MIAA.

Stephens, who earned honorable mention honors a year ago, also is an all-conference caliber football player for the Scots and will now start working towards getting in football shape for the upcoming 2008 campaign.

More than 100 Alma College students and staff traveled to destinations in New Mexico, Tennessee, Philadelphia, Louisiana and North Carolina for service projects during winter break in February 2007. “Alternative Break service experiences continue to gain popularity on Alma College’s campus,” says Sallie Scheide, assistant director in the Center for Responsible Leadership.
