BASEBALL: Scots Drop Two to Adrian on Senior Day

May 6, 2008

Alma, Mich.- The Alma College Baseball Team (11-27,7-19) welcomed the Adrian College Bulldogs (29-9,21-5) to Klenk Park for the final home double header of the season and Senior Day, and despite playing the Bulldogs tough for much of both games, one bad inning in both games led to the Scots losing both by the scores of 7-4 and 10-3.

The first game was tied 2-2 going into the top of the fourth, but behind a few hits and a few Alma errors, the Bulldogs posted a four run inning and held the Scots off to take the 7-4 win.

Senior Matt Gorman (Gladwin) took the mound for the final time as an Alma College Scots and pitched the complete game, allowing three earned on six hits while striking out four on the way to his only loss of the year.

Adam Rezmer (Bay City/John Glenn) did his part for the Scots as he drove in all four of the Maroon and Cream' runs while going two for three from the dish. Dan Gonzalez-Morales (Lansing/Eastern) also had a two hit game and scored two runs in the loss.

Box Score Game 1

The night cap told a similar story as without the six run third inning by the Bulldogs, it would have been a dogfight instead of the 10-3 Adrian victory.

Gonzalez-Morales had another two hit game and scored his third run of the day for Alma in game two. Jeremy Stephens (Maple Rapids/Fulton-Middleton) also had two hits, going two for three with an RBI and a run scored and Rezmer added his fifth RBI of the day.

Freshman Corey Brohl (Richmond) got the start and went the distance for the Scots on the mound. In his seven innings pitched, he gave up nine hits and nine earned runs while striking out two on the way to the loss.

Box Score Game 2

The Scots will travel to Adrian tomorrow for their final two games of the year. In a rare circumstance, Calvin will be rooting for the Scots as Alma could knock Adrian out of first place in the conference if they can steal a game. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
