BASEBALL: Scots Come Up Short at Dow Diamond

April 22, 2008

Despite a solid pitching performance by Tony Garcia (Lapeer/West), who scattered 10 hits over five innings while giving up only two earned runs, the Scots couldn't get the bats going against the Timberwolves pitching.

One of the Maroon and Cream who enjoyed success from the plate was second baseman Dan Gonzalez-Morales (Lansing/Eastern) who went three for four with Alma's only RBI. Jeremy Stephens (Maple Rapids/Fulton-Middleton) and Joe Yourchock (Royal Oak) each added two hits in the losing effort.

"We didn't play our best ball today but the experience of playing a tough team in a professional ball park is something our athletes will always remember," commented Head Coach Judd Folske after the game.

Box Score

The unique experience will not be all that unique for the Scots as they will find themselves in another minor league park later on this season as they face off against Aquinas at 5/3 Park on April 29th. However, for now, the Scots are much more focused on the task at hand as they have a four games series with Tri-State set for this Thursday and Saturday with game one being played in Angola, Ind. on April 24th with a 2 p.m. start time.

In the more than 100 years since its founding, Alma has stayed true to its roots by keeping its Scottish heritage alive.
