BASEBALL: Scots split with Tri-State

The Scots have been coming on strong towards the end of the season giving every team they face a run for their money. Thursday's action was no different as the Scots won one game 2-1, lost the other 1-0.

In the first game of the double header the Scots rallied from a 1-0 deficit scoring a run in each of the sixth and seventh inning to take the 2-1 win.

Joe Thiry (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian) pitched a gem for the Scots giving up only six hits and one run in his complete game win.

Both the Scots runs in this game came the hard way, they were manufactured. The run in the sixth came as Dan Gonzalez-Morales (Lansing/Eastern) reached on an error, was bunted to second, took third on an error by the catcher, and scored off a sac fly by sophomore Bobby Jock (Whales/Memphis). Their only other run came an inning later and in similar fashion. Jeremy Stephens (Maple Raipids/Fulton-Middleton) led off the inning with double, was bunted to third and scored as teammate Josh Reece (Norton Shores/Muskegon Mona Shores) hit a deep sac fly to center, scoring the go-ahead and eventual winning run.
