Ott Twins Go Long To Defeat Tri-State

ANGOLA, Ind. - The Alma College baseball team picked up two wins Wednesday, defeating Tri-State 2-1 and 17-6 in doubleheader action. The Scots are now 7-10 (3-5 MIAA) for the season.

In game one, Alma senior Pete Ott (East Lansing) opened with a two-out home run in the first to give Alma the one-run lead before twin Pat hit a two-out homer in the third. Tri-State came back with one run in the seventh. In that inning, starting Scot pitcher Brandon Teenier had the bases loaded before he got Tri-State's Braun to go down swinging. Teenier struck out six while scattering four hits and allowing one run.

The second game generated the most runs for the Scots this season, putting up 17 runs, backed by four home runs. Joe Stephens (Maple Rapids/Fulton-Middleton) would knock the long ball for a single shot while Pat McGuire (Clare) hit a two-run homer in the top of the first and Mike Slesinski (Milford) followed with a shot of his own in the next at bat. Aaron Assmann (Mt. Pleasant) would round out home runs for Alma with a shot in the seventh.

Alma returns to action when it hosts Tri-State in the return series this Saturday at Klenk Park.

Spring Term at Alma is a one-month immersion on a single academic topic that offers learning experiences not typically available during the more traditional 15-week fall and winter terms. For example, during Spring Term ‘07 students explored important cultural sites in China, worked to restore a Jewish Holocaust cemetery in Poland, analyzed ethic politics in Scotland, and studied medieval literature in London.
