Knights Make Clean Sweep of Scots

ALMA, Mich. - The Alma College baseball team dropped the series finale to Calvin Saturday (Apr. 1) at Klenk Park. They lost the first game 2-1 and the second game 13-2 to fall to 5-10 (1-5 MIAA).

In the MIAA's new four-game format, the Scots dropped all four games to the Knights.

Pat Ott (East Lansing) was on in the first game, going 3-for-4 at the plate while Mike Slesinski (Milford) went 2-for-4. Mike Zuehlke was 1-for-3 with the Scots' only run, knocked in by Josh Reece who was 1-for-3 on the day.

Alma ace Brandon Teenier (Holly) worked the complete game, scattering five hits and two earned runs while striking out two and walking one in 28 batters faced.

Ott remained hot in the nightcap, going 2-for-4 with a run scored - no other Scot would generate more than one hit for the game.

Alma returns to action Apr. 5 when it travels to Tri-State for continued MIAA play.

In the more than 100 years since its founding, Alma has stayed true to its roots by keeping its Scottish heritage alive. Today, Alma features a marching band clad in Kilts, a Scottish dance troupe, student pipers and its own tartan. Each year, the College hosts the Alma Highland Festival and Games, which feature traditional Scottish games and revelry.
