Scots Set To Host Albion In Weekend Action

By Billee Banks

ALMA, Mich.
- Alma College baseball hosts Albion College on Friday, April 1 at 4 p.m. and again on Saturday, April 2 at 1 p.m. both at Klenk Park in Alma, Mich.

After having a rough Florida trip, the Scots are coming off two conference victories over rival Hope on Mar. 29, 8-2 and 3-2. 2004 MIAA Pitcher of the Year, junior Brandon Teenier (Holly) led the way in the first game throwing a complete seven-inning game, allowing two runs on three hits, striking out six and walking one.  In the second
game the Scots held off Hope for a 3-2 victory.

This weekend, they face reigning MIAA Champion Albion. The Brits are 2-1 in MIAA play after opening a three-game series against Tri-State, winning the first game 1-0 while Tri-State took the second game, 5-0. The Britons ended with a 7-4 victory against the Thunder to end the series 2-1. Albion boasts a 7-11 overall record on the season while the Scots are 2-2 on the year and 2-0 in MIAA action. Several games played in Flordia do not comply with NCAA rules, allowing only two of the Scots’ seven games to count toward overall record.

The Scots will play Monday, Apr. 2, afternoon against Hope at Klenk Park in single, nine-inning make-up game - weather permitting.

Spring Term at Alma is a one-month immersion on a single academic topic that offers learning experiences not typically available during the more traditional 15-week fall and winter terms. For example, during Spring Term ’08, students toured cultural sites in Argentina, studied lizards in Jamaica, analyzed World War II topics at the British National Archives in London, performed music in Italy, and examined the natural wonders of New Zealand.
