Alma Defeats Adrian; Teenier Improves Record to 7-0

Behind a complete-game seven-strikeout performance by Alma ace Brandon Teenier, Holly sophomore, the Scots defeated the Bulldogs by the score of 8-3 in the opening game of the late-season conference series. Teenier, who allowed six hits over nine innings and walked only three, grabbed his seventh win of the season.

Ray Ribitch, Mt. Pleasant sophomore, went 2-3 from the plate with an RBI, a run scored, and three stolen bases. Sophomore Pat McGuire, Clare, added two hits, scoring a run and knocking in two in his five trips to the plate. Senior Kevin Vermeersch, Unionville (Unionville-Sebewaing Area), went 2-4 with one RBI and one run scored for the Scots.

 

Thirty-four percent of Alma students participate in intercollegiate athletics. Alma College competes at the NCAA Division III level as a member of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association, the oldest existing athletic conference in the nation.

Judd Folske

Judd Folske

Judd Folske is entering his first year as Alma College Head Baseball Coach in the 2007-2008 season after spending two years as an assistant coach with the program. Coach Folske joined the Maroon and Cream in the fall of 2005 after stops at NCAA Division I Central Michigan University, and stints at Div. II schools Saginaw Valley State University and Ferris State University. He also serves the athletic department as assistant athletic director.

While head coach of the CMU Chippewas, Folske posted a 131-98 mark. In 2000, he finished in a tie for first in the MAC conference with a record of 41-17 (18-8). Folske retired after the 2003 season at CMU, and went to work as an assistant at SVSU, where he worked in that capacity for two seasons.
