Volleyball/Men's and Women's Soccer Raffle

The Alma College Volleyball and Men's and Women's Soccer Teams sold raffle tickets this fall to raise money for their programs and this week is the week when the winning tickets will be drawn. The first will be drawn at the Alma College versus Saint Mary's Match on October 22. The second will be drawn at the Women's Soccer match on October 24 and the final ticket was drawn October 27 at the halftime of the Men's Soccer Match. Each winner receives a cash prize.

Raffle Winners as of 10/26:

Val Porter from Cheboygan, MI was drawn 10/22 at the Volleyball Match vs St.
Mary's.

Dave Martin from Alma, MI was drawn 10/24 at the W. Soccer Match against Tri-
State.

Toni Lynch from Grand Blanc, MI was drawn 10/27 at the Men's Soccer Match against Calvin College.

The Alma College Percussion Ensemble performed at the prestigious Centrum Jazz Festival, an international festival in Port Townsend, Wash., in July 2007. Alma was the only college group invited to perform. "It's a huge honor," says faculty director Dave Zerbe. "You can't apply to perform there; they seek you out."

Dennis Griffin

Dennis Griffin

Denny Griffin is heading into his 27th year at Alma College and his 20th at the helm of the Scots softball program. He moved into the head softball coaching position in 1989 after two years as assistant coach. His teams have never fallen lower than third place in conference standings and 12 of his last 14 teams have qualified for the NCAA Tournament.

In addition to his softball duties, Griffin is the program director for the Athletic Training Education Program. He teaches first aid/CPR and sports medicine classes in the Exercise and Health Science Department.
