Race for a Reason Update

Alma and Scotty won the challenge, soundly defeating Olivet and Clyde the Comet in the Race for a Reason Oct. 1 at Bahlke Stadium. The event was organized by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee's at both College's.

The Olivet stands were able to put together $67.95 in the first half of the game while Alma fans chipped in $124.44 in the first half. The deciding factor was a foot race between Scotty and Clyde - which Scotty won handily.

$192.39 raised to help those re-building their lives in the wake of Katrina and Rita thanks to the generous fans at Saturday's game.

 

Alma College boasts a 13-to-1 student-to-teacher ratio, a liberal arts approach to undergraduate education, 28 academic majors, self-designed programs of emphasis, pre-professional programs in law and medicine, and an intensive Spring Term that provides opportunities for innovative courses, travel classes, research and internships.

Dennis Griffin

Dennis Griffin

Denny Griffin is heading into his 27th year at Alma College and his 20th at the helm of the Scots softball program. He moved into the head softball coaching position in 1989 after two years as assistant coach. His teams have never fallen lower than third place in conference standings and 12 of his last 14 teams have qualified for the NCAA Tournament.

In addition to his softball duties, Griffin is the program director for the Athletic Training Education Program. He teaches first aid/CPR and sports medicine classes in the Exercise and Health Science Department.
