ALMA, Mich. - Alma College football senior Mat Lambourn (West Branch/Ogemaw Heights) and women’s soccer senior goalkeeper Pam McCarthy (Flushing/Powers Catholic) have been named this week’s WMLM Player’s of the Week.

Lambourn ran for 175 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries in the Scots’ 48-12 season-opening victory over Aurora, Ill., on Sept. 10. His longest run of the day was for 69 yards, resulting in his second touchdown of the day.

McCarthy helped the Scots remain undefeated with her fourth straight shutout in the MIAA opener against Tri-State. The Scots went on to win the game 3-0 and are currently undefeated with an overall record of 3-0-1.

WMLM 1520 AM supports Scots student-athletes and their successes both on and off the playing field. The WMLM Athletes of the Week are recognized for their athletic accomplishments and contribution to the Alma College tradition of excellence.

Spring Term at Alma is a one-month immersion on a single academic topic that offers learning experiences not typically available during the more traditional 15-week fall and winter terms. For example, during Spring Term '09, students toured cultural sites in Peru, studied alternative energy in Sweden, analyzed theatre and dance in London, and examined Native American culture at the Crazy Horse Memorial in South Dakota.
