Stuart TenHoor '76

Stuart TenHoor '76 received one of the highest honors the NCAA gives out when he was named an NCAA Post-Graduate Scholar in 1976.

The award takes in account such factors as academic performance, athletic performance, and campus involvement.

Besides being one of the best students at Alma during his time, TenHoor also was a key member to the 1975-76 Alma College Basketball Team that went 6-6 in conference play and was one of the team's two members to be named to the All-MIAA First Team. TenHoor finished the season with the second most points in the league (214) and fifth most rebounds (111) on his way to nearly averaging a double-double, putting up 17.8 points per game and 9.3 rebounds.

TenHoor also helped the Scots hand the eventual conference champs Calvin College one of only two losses with their impressive 78-64 upset late in the season.

 
 

 

Thirty-four percent of Alma students participate in intercollegiate athletics. Alma College competes at the NCAA Division III level as a member of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association, the oldest existing athletic conference in the nation.

Cheyenne Luzynski

Cheyenne Luzynski

Alma College Athletics appointed Cheyenne Luzynski as head volleyball coach beginning with the 2007 spring non-traditional season. Luzynski is the eighth head coach in the 31-year history of Alma College volleyball.

Luzynski has served as an assistant volleyball coach for two seasons and has led the junior varsity program during that time. She has served as an assistant coach with the men’s basketball program, leading its junior varsity program and is an assistant coach with the men’s and women’s track and field teams at Alma College. Additionally, Luzynski has been named an assistant Athletic Director and serves as the Senior Woman Administrator within the department.
