Create Art at Alma

Alma’s art program covers a wide range of visual disciplines. Students are encouraged to take advantage of the close student-faculty relationships and the excellent undergraduate studio facilities in the Clack Art Center to explore art in its many forms, including ceramics, drawing, graphic design, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture and three-dimensional design.

Exhibition opportunities available to students include:

  • Annual Student Show
  • Annual Senior Show
  • Student Gallery
  • Off-campus Shows

The Flora Kirsch Beck Gallery, located in the Clack Art Center, offers a number of exhibition opportunities, annual student and faculty shows, and the annual Alma College Statewide Print Competition. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. Admission is free and open to the public.

Alma College’s first-year students can choose to “go green” through the Get Out Bike Program, designed to reduce their carbon impact. By signing a pledge not to bring a car to campus, participants in the program receive a bike to keep at a discounted rate. Downtown businesses are easily accessible to student cyclists. Campus also is bordered by the 41-mile Fred Meijer Heartland Trail.
