Mike Conyer '70 and Sarah Moreland '71 have their own alpaca farm, Alpaca Dreams, LLC (www.AlpacaDreamsNC.com), where they reside with their 12 alpacas and one llama named Harry. They are loving living their dream!

Angela (McKelvey) Manuszak '87 is enjoying book-signing duties for a new hardbound book.

Mary Heberlein Cross '58 spent a couple of months on South Padre Island in Texas with her husband Larry. Deana Munsell Avantaggio '58 joined them for a week of sun and bird watching.

Russell Brandt '61 led his first Synod Assembly meeting Feb. 28th and is now the moderator of the Synod Assembly.

Jack Lehman '74 has been self-employed for over 23 years as a registered investment adviser in Midland, Mich. He has 113 clients throughout the U.S. His oldest daughter, Sarah, is attending Michigan Tech, studying to be a physical therapist. His younger daughter, Darcey, will be entering college this fall to study fashion design.

Nancy Redman Keser '60 retired in 2001 from starting and running Levitation Staging Inc. in Grand Rapids, Mich. She spent the last 10 years in Florida. She recently moved to Traverse City, where she is enjoying better contact with her family and art. "It would be nice to find some friends from the past."

Stephen Hamilton Wright '79 is serving as adjunct faculty for Viterbo University in LaCrosse, Wisc., at its Wausau location, teaching a seminar in values and ethics.

Josh Morgan '06 Got engaged to his girlfriend of 2+ years, Kristy Crowley, on April 13th in Las Vegas.

Richard Douglass '68 announces his retirement, effective August 2013, after serving for 26 years on the Eastern Michigan University faculty. "It has been a rewarding academic career since 1972," he says. "I'll continue to teach occasional graduate level courses and at Ashesi University in Ghana...but sailing, grandchildren, bicycling and work with AARP-Michigan and a few board positions will keep me out of too much trouble."

Susan Sickelka '81 has returned to the pulpit after two years of teaching both religion and ethics at Des Moines Area Community College. She serves Salem United Church of Christ in Alleman, Iowa.

 

Alma College’s nationally recognized Model United Nations program has won top honors for 16 consecutive years (1997–2012) — the longest active winning streak of any college or university in the nation. Alma College’s all-time 30 “outstanding delegation” awards are the most of any college or university in the 90-year history of the conference.

World peace may seem too big a stretch for some, but Alma College alumna Nicole Rohrkemper is willing to extend an olive branch wherever she can.

As the International Peace Teams Deployment Coordinator for the Michigan Peace Team, she recruits and deploys groups for nonviolent intervention in war and conflict zones.

β€œI have always been fascinated by other cultures and far-off places, and I have a passion for international travel,” says Rohrkemper, who graduated in 2005. β€œIn the past 10 years, I have spent time in Argentina, Thailand, Germany, Switzerland, Jordan and many other countries.”
