Your Local Alumni Connection

Local and Regional Connections

Alma College alumni and friends are everywhere. You know that feeling you get every time you come across a stranger wearing an Alma T-shirt? That person isn’t a stranger for long. Instances like this are a great reminder of how wide reaching yet closely connected the Alma community really is.

How do you become more connected, though? Alma currently has two ways for alumni and friends to connect in a group setting: Tartan Clubs and Alumni Round Tables. As we move forward and look to deepen engagement, however, we welcome your suggestions for both group names and structures.

In the meantime, we hope our groups will continue to fall in line with what’s truly important to Alma: recruiting students, identifying and developing internships and strengthening communities through service and philanthropy.

Alma College ranks second in the nation in the percentage of students who participate in alternative break service trips, according to Break Away, the national organization that supports the development of alternative break experiences that inspire lifelong active citizenship. Last year, Alma students provided flood relief, built affordable homes, planned activities for terminally ill children, constructed wheelchair ramps, worked with immigrants, and assisted in after-school programs.

Major: History

Whether you call him a baseball-playing history buff or a history-loving baseball player, one thing is clear: Neil Youngdahl is able to pursue both of his passions at Alma College.

“History is a subject that has interested me since elementary school, so I decided I wanted to keep studying it in college,” he says. “It can be tough to balance sports and academics, but it forces you to learn how to manage your time and prioritize to get things done.”
