“The Rose Peck Endowed Scholarship has been established in honor of all of you who worked for me in the Mailing and Printing Center for more than four decades. I did this because of the dedication and loyalty each of you gave to Alma College and to me.”
–Rose Peck, Mail and Printing Center Manager, 1962–2007

Rose Peck
Rose Peck, Printing and Mailing Center Manager, retired in July 2007 after many decades of loyal, dedicated and efficient service to Alma College. It is difficult to imagine what the Mail and Printing Center will be like now that she has left to enjoy an active retirement; we all know and appreciate what a central figure she has been to the life of the College.
In honor of her years of service to an institution that has been such an integral part of her life, Rose has unselfishly established an endowed scholarship in her name. The Rose Peck Endowed Scholarship at Alma College will support student mailroom assistants for generations to come and establish a perpetual legacy in her name. We all appreciate this noble thought and action — an extremely rare display of affection for her beloved College.
We hope [those of ] you [who worked for Rose] will remember those qualities Rose helped instill in you: punctuality (Who dared to be late?), courtesy (Always a good attitude!), attention to detail (Don’t miss any buildings!), and productivity (The mail must go through!). Rose’s own work ethic, personal values and joie de vivre are treasured by those who know her and those fortunate to have learned from her.
Before The Rose Peck Endowed Scholarship can be fully endowed and active, a minimum of $10,000 must be raised. Rose herself has planted seed money to get the process underway, and additional gifts from us and Karen Beam Glasgow ‘61 are helping to ensure its success.
It is our hope that you and your fellow mail carriers who benefited from Rose’s mentoring and supervision will join us in making a special contribution to this special scholarship for this special lady. Rose provided not only the inspiration for this effort, but a list of 200 names of former student assistants from the past 44 years. “If you can find it in your heart to help make this wonderful scholarship a reality, I would be very grateful,” said Rose recently.
Alma College is currently one of the very few campuses that still employ student mail carriers; that fact alone makes the criteria of this scholarship all the more unique. Your participation and tax-deductible gift of any amount will mean a great deal to us, to Rose and to Alma College.
On behalf of Rose Peck, we thank you for your important consideration and generosity!
