About the Cover

Old Knight, by former Alma College faculty artist Kent Kirby, was printed in 1993 and included in Kirby’s retrospective shows at Saginaw Valley State University (2000) and Alma College (2003). Since 1960, his work has been shown in more than 150 juried and invitational exhibitions, and his art is included in the permanent collections of major museums and private collections. As a memorial to Kirby, who died June 7, 2005, the top award in the Alma College Statewide Print Competition has been renamed the Kent Kirby Memorial Purchase Award.

Alma College students report a level of interaction with faculty that ranks among the top 5 percent in the nation, according to the results of the 2006 National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE).

Alma’s off-campus study programs do more than place students in exciting locales to meet interesting people; they also create new opportunities for personal growth and skill development. One of the best ways to learn about other societies and cultures is to study and travel in international settings. You do not always have to know a foreign language.
