Many of our faculty and staff were also first generation college students and remember that we often had questions about college life but we weren’t always sure where to turn. That’s why Alma College designed the KCP Opportunities and Connections Program.
While any student can benefit from the KCP Opportunities and Connections Program, participating first generation college students tell us that they have found opportunities for helpful conversation with students and faculty mentors who are going through or have gone through similar experiences.
This program helped me to know I wasn’t the only one who was new to college life. It helped me to adjust to living on campus, knowing professors, even knowing my way around campus. It was nice to have a professor with whom I was able to talk to about any questions I had, not just about academics but about life at Alma as well. ~ Christy Robinson, ’14
