Transfer Application Process

Getting Started

As an incoming transfer student, you should begin speaking with Tore Skogseth, your Alma College admissions representative, as soon as you start considering transferring to Alma College. He, along with the Registrar, will be able to answer your questions about transferring your credits, help you select courses that will transfer to Alma College, and work with you to ensure you meet the requirements of your selected Alma College program of study.

Applying to Alma

You may apply for admission to Alma if you have attended another college or university and are in good standing. You should have earned a "B" average in coursework at other colleges or universities.

You should arrange for the following to be sent to the Admissions Office:

  • Transcripts from all high schools attended, including ACT/SAT scores.*/**

  • Transcripts from all colleges or universities previously attended, and a college catalog if institution is outside Michigan.

* If your ACT score is below an 18, please contact the Admissions Office to schedule an ACT retake.

**ACT and SAT scores may be waived if you have completed a minimum 24 credit hours of college course work with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Please have all documents sent as soon as possible so we can review your application materials for acceptance. Once we have received all of the above items, we will evaluate your application, and you should receive a reply shortly thereafter. As a general note, it is beneficial to apply even before you are finished with all of your current coursework.

Submit all documents to:

Alma College Admissions Office
614 W. Superior Street
Alma, Michigan 48801-1599

The Application

You may complete the Alma College application in one of three ways:

  2. Download a copy of the Application as a PDF document (if you do not have Acrobat Reader on your computer you can download a free copy from Adobe's web site).
  3. Complete the traditional Alma College Application for Admission. Just email the Admissions Office (admissions@alma.edu) or call 1-800-321-ALMA and request a copy of the application to be mailed to you.

Alma’s close faculty-student interaction provides numerous benefits such as the ability to do undergraduate research on a graduate level. Alma’s professors treat students more as peers welcoming student input and collaboration on faculty projects. When students are involved in research, faculty aggressively pursue publication of findings including students as co-authors.
