Home-Schooled Students

Alma College encourages home-schooled students to apply for admission because experience has shown they succeed well in our rigorous academic programs and contribute to the vitality of the campus community as well as students from traditional academic backgrounds. Our small school size helps to continue the personalized education that home-schooled students value and in which they flourish.

To be fair to all students that apply to Alma College, a home-schooled student should have:

  • Approximately a 'B' average
  • An ACT composite score of 22 or a combined SAT score of 1030
  • Made progress toward a total of 16 academic units which must include a minimum of four years of English and three years each of mathematics, social studies and science. Two years of a foreign language are strongly recommended.

When applying to Alma College, the following items are required from home-schooled applicants:

  • A completed Alma College application (either paper or online)
  • A graded transcript of grades 9-12 prepared by the teachers/parents, an independent or supervising teacher, or an organization with which the applicant is registered or affiliated
  • Official ACT or SAT report taken on a national test date or residually at Alma College
  • Any additional documents that will help us to know you better (optional)

We encourage home-schooled students to participate in our Campus Close-Up program or arrange an Individual Visit to campus to talk with an admissions representative, meet with faculty and current students, and tour our beautiful campus.
