Life brings many changes and we are happy to help you navigate all of your financial aid changes throughout your time at Alma College.
Financial Aid Appeals
If you, and/or your parents and/or spouse, believe you have special circumstances to be considered for the 2016-2017 academic year, please contact our office to see if any financial aid adjustments can be made.
Special Circumstances could include (but are not limited to) the following:
• Unemployment or change in employment
• Divorce or separation
• Death of a parent or spouse
• Receipt of one-time income (pension, inheritance, etc.)
• Elementary or secondary school costs
• Medical/dental expenses
If you are considering withdrawing from Alma College, we will be sad to see you go, but we want to make sure we provide you with the details on how your withdrawal will impact your financial aid.
Off Campus Housing / No Meal Plan
Financial aid is calculated on the comprehensive cost of attending Alma College, including room and board. When room and board are removed from the college’s charge to a student, Alma College financial aid is also reduced.
Living off campus will reduce your financial aid package by a set amount that is determined each academic year. The reduction for the 2016-17 academic year will be $5,120 ($2,560 for only one fall or winter semester). Federal and State financial aid are not affected.
Removing your meal plan (board) from your bill will result in a reduction of $2,048 for the 2016-2017 academic year ($1,024 for only one fall or winter semester). Federal and State financial aid are not affected.
There will be no change in the reduction for students who live off campus, but choose to buy a meal plan. See the Campus Dining webpage for information about other meal plan options.
