Special Circumstances

Life brings many changes and we are happy to help you navigate all of your financial aid changes throughout your time at Alma College.

Financial Aid Appeals

If you, and/or your parents and/or spouse, believe you have special circumstances to be considered for the 2014-2015 academic year, please contact our office to see if any financial aid adjustments can be made.


Special Circumstances could include (but are not limited to) the following:
• Unemployment or change in employment
• Divorce or separation
• Death of a parent or spouse
• Receipt of one-time income (pension, inheritance, etc.)
• Elementary or secondary school costs
• Medical/dental expenses

Withdrawing

If you are considering withdrawing from Alma College, we will be sad to see you go, but we want to make sure we provide you with the details on how your withdrawal will impact your financial aid.   

Off Campus Housing / No Meal Plan

Living off campus while attending Alma College will result in a 25% reduction in your Alma College financial aid (up to $5,000), but you will still receive 100% of your Federal financial aid. Removing your meal plan from your bill will result in a 10% reduction in your Alma College financial aid, but you will still receive 100% of your Federal financial aid.
