Grants & Scholarships

We have identified a number of grants that help defray the costs of college. We also offer a variety of scholarships to reward you for your accomplishments.

Federal & State Grants & Scholarships: The federal and state governments offer many financial aid opportunities for students. Please check out the options to see if you are eligible to receive more financial aid!

Merit Scholarships: Based on high school GPA and ACT/SAT scores for incoming freshmen. Transfer and International student merit awards are based on GPA.

Performance Scholarships: For students demonstrating a high level of accomplishment in art, dance, music, theatre or the Highland Arts (regardless of intended major) who audition or present a portfolio by March 1.

Other Alma Scholarships: Available for students meeting specific criteria or those interested in specific areas of study. Some of these scholarships are automatically awarded while others require an application.

Veteran’s Yellow Ribbon Program: Alma College participates in this benefit for eligible military veterans.

Outside Scholarships: These scholarships are not awarded by Alma College, but as we hear of opportunities that may benefit our students, we like to post them for you.

Please note: Be sure to review Alma College’s policies and procedures and the academic catalog as it is your responsibility to be familiar with situations that may affect your financial aid.

Students receiving a full tuition scholarship, grant or award from Alma College or an outside provider are not eligible to receive standard Alma College merit, competitive, or additional scholarships, grants or awards.  These are replaced by the full tuition award being received.  This includes but is not limited to the Yellow Ribbon Program, ROTC, and Alma College’s Distinguished Scholar Award (up to full tuition).  Non-College financial aid will be adjusted in accordance with the rules and regulations applicable to those programs.
