Frequently Asked Questions for Students
Who should attend?
Anyone interested in career exploration, networking and identifying job/internship opportunities should attend Career EXPLO! This includes freshmen through seniors – everyone is welcome.
What should I wear?
It depends on the impression you would like to make. If you are actively searching for jobs and internships, dressing in your interview suit will make a strong first impression. If you are primarily there for career exploration, business casual attire should be sufficient.
New this year, we are offering free professional headshots by bitworks, Alma’s student-run production company. Since you’ll already be dressed up, this is the perfect opportunity to have a nice photo taken for your LinkedIn profile.
Should I bring my resume?
If you have a resume, you should definitely bring copies: 15-20 should be enough. Need help with your resume? Make an appointment with the peer consultants, who are available Monday-Thursday from 4-8 pm in the CSO.
I want to get the most out of Career EXPLO – any tips?
Yes – come to a Career EXPLO Prep Session! We’re running them Mon. Oct. 6. 2014 through Thurs. Oct. 9, 2014 at both 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm in the CSO. We’ll cover what to expect at the event, how to network effectively, and the tools you should have ready. After the 30-minute session, you can schedule one-on-one appointments with the peer consultants to brush up on your skills.
