German Language Table
You learn a language by using it regularly, which is one of the reasons why the German Language Assistant hosts a German Language Table in Hamilton Commons, the primary dining commons on campus, each Monday evening from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Come share a meal and lively conversation in German!
The Alma College German Club is a student-run organization. Elected officials and enthusiastic German students help organize extra-curricular activities to spread knowledge to those interested in German culture through fun events such as plays, films, Christmas events, Karneval and other cultural activities. The German Club meets regularly and works very closely with the German program faculty. All are welcome to join! Meetings are held Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on the first floor of SAC. Contact adviser Dr Holly Liu at (989) 463-7237 or club president Lily Alexander at (317) 457-9011 for more information.
Spring Term Courses
Alma College is fortunate to have faculty who actively embrace the Spring Term concept, taking students abroad for four weeks that amount to a once-in-a-lifetime experience touring historic sites and learning first-hand about the Holocaust.
Similarly, we have forged relationships with German institutions of higher learning so our students can have term-long and year-long immersive German-speaking experiences. Talk with Dr. Holly Liu or Carla Jensen in the Off-Campus Study office in the Center for Student Opportunity for more information.
