French is a language that opens up many career options, especially if you combine it with a second major while at Alma.
Along with English, French is the official working language of the United Nations, UNESCO, NATO, the Council of Europe, the International Red Cross and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Many businesses and US State Department jobs also require knowledge of French.
Alma College French majors and minors often pursue careers in which their French proficiency plays a vital role. Here are just a few things our graduates have done since graduation:
- International Health services
- Foreign Service
- Travel/Hotel Services
- University International Studies Offices/Advising
- International and Non-profit Organizations
- Speech Therapy
- Library Science
We are proud that several Alma French majors and minors have won Fulbright scholarships to pursue their studies abroad after graduation. You could win a Fulbright scholarship, too!
