Health Reference Center Academic
Use this database to find articles on: Fitness, Pregnancy, Medicine, Nutrition, Diseases, Public Health, Occupational Health and Safety, Alcohol and Drug abuse, HMOs, Prescription Drugs, etc.

MEDLINE
Covers all areas of medicine, including dentistry and nursing.

ProQuest Health Module

American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)
ACSM "promotes and integrates scientific research, education, and practical applications of sports medicine and exercise science to maintain and enhance physical performance, fitness, health, and quality of life."

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Search CDC resources including Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, data sets & reports. Requires registration.

Health Science Guide - Martindale's
Sections on anatomy, brain neurology, cardiology, pathology, virology, bioscience, chemistry, nursing, nutrition, pharmacy, and public health.

HealthWeb
A collaborative project of the health science librarians and supported by the National Library of Medicine (NLM). The resources "include those currently available as well as new resources developed in collaboration with other organizations." The interface "integrates educational information so the user has a one-stop entry point to learn skills and use material relevant to their discipline." Very comprehensive, yet selective.

Indian Health Service
Native American health statstics and full text of Trends in Indian Health and Regional Differences in Indian Health.

National Center for Health Statistics
The "data Warehouse" link leads to tables on chronic conditions as well as risk factors and vital events. "Frequently Asked Questions" leads to summarized statistics. "Products" consists of Monthly Vital Statistics Report, Vital and Health Statistics Series, Vital Statistics of the United States, Advance Data from NCHS surveys, Healthy People 2000, and the annual report Health, United States, 1995.

National Institute on Drug Abuse
Fact sheets with statistics focusing on prevalence of drug abuse among children and adolescents, lifetime use, and future trends.

PE Central 
Resource for physical educators. Includes: lesson and assesment ideas, equipment sources, directory of people and associations, etc.

Physician and Sports Medicine
Online version of the important print resource. Some articles full text, some abstracts. Searchable. Includes links to related resources.

SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration)
Extensive reports include "Substance Abuse and Mental Health Statistics Source Book" and "The National Household Survey on Drug Abuse" which details prevalence, patterns, adn consequences of drug and alcohol use and abuse. Also includes national and state data on the number and types of patients treated and the characteristics of facilities providing services.

Science.gov
The U.S. Federal Government is the world's largest producer of information. This site makes government-produced science information easier to find through organized topic hierarchies.

Scirus
Scirus is the "most comprehensive science-specific search engine on the Internet." It searches over 150 million science-specific Web pages, providing access to journal articles as well as web-sites.

U.S. National Library of Medicine
Includes links to MEDLINE/PubMed, MEDLINEplus, databases, Medical Subject Headings (MeSH), and NLM Publications.

 

Many of Alma’s pre-law graduates go on to attend prestigious law schools, including 2004 graduate Jessica Karbowski, who was accepted at Yale, Stanford and Harvard law schools and is attending Yale. Colin McGlaughlin, a 20004 graduated enrolled at Case Western Reserve Law School, is the first American to intern at the International Criminal Court at The Hague in the Netherlands.
