DATABASES

Chemistry Databases:

SciFinder Scholar (Access to Chemical Abstracts)
This database can be accessed only on the four sit-down computers near the front of the library.

American Chemical Society Publications
This database searches the publications of the American Chemical Society. All of the articles are available in full-text.

STN Easy (Alternative Access to Chemical Abstracts)
This database can be accessed only using the log-ins on your handout.  Access is limited to certain times of the day, as specified on your handout

General Science Databases:

Science Direct
This database offers broad coverage of science journals.  Our access level is mainly citations, however there are some full text journals available.

GenSciAbs (General Science Abstracts through FirstSearch)
Broad coverage of science literature, geared for a wider audience of people. It covers chemistry journals, but with less depth than the more specialized databases.  A significant amount of journals are available in full-text.

ProQuest (Sciences Module)
Scroll down on the ProQuest main page to find the Sciences Module. This database is more generalized and geared toward a broad audience.

Additional Specialized Databases of Interest:

Agricola
This FirstSearch database covers topics related to agriculture, natural resources, forestry, animal sciences and botany.

BasicBIOSIS
This FirstSearch database covers broadly all areas of life sciences.

BioAgIndex
This FirstSearch database covers leading publications in agriculture, biology, ecology and forestry.

Medline
This is the largest health and medical research database. It covers all areas of medicine, nursing and human health sciences.

Ted Webb

Ted Webb
Graduation: 2013
Major: New Media Studies

When the new media studies major was offered, you didn’t have to tell Ted Webb twice. The Petoskey senior was first in line to sign up.

“At Alma, you can hop right into what you want to do, and do it,” he says. “Dr. Gilbert, especially, encourages me to go for it. She always tells me, ‘If you have time to do it, then do it!’”
