Leadership and Action

Leadership isn’t just about taking the lead on campus.

The values of the Center of Responsible Leadership—integrity, generosity, responsibility—can be applied anywhere—and they are.

While it’s important for you to learn at Alma College, it’s even more important for you to do.

Students have a variety of opportunities to work both within and outside the community, building upon their skills and knowledge. Through this direct involvement with communities and issues, your leadership skills are shaped, and you are changed. Are you ready to be a leader?

Marcus Richter

Marcus Richter
Departments: Library

Call it luck, destiny, or foresight… Marcus Richter isn’t sure why he decided to go to graduate school for library research, but he’s glad he did.

“I had never worked in a library before in my life,” he says. “But I had recently moved to the U.S. from Germany to serve as a pastor. I knew I didn’t want to be a pastor forever, so I decided I needed to find something different to do that would connect with the skills I already had.”
