High School Institute

Summer Leadership Institute

The Alma College High School Leadership Institute is open to current juniors from Michigan high schools (class of 2009). The residential Institute develops leadership capabilities and an understanding of the complexity of local, state and global economic and technological changes. It provides an intensive immersion into the study and practice of leadership through workshops, case analysis and experiential activities.

Alma College's Center for Responsible Leadership has partnered with the ART of Leadership Foundation to bring ALF's proven leadership curriculum to Alma's campus and give students a real world leadership experience.

Participants will:

  • Gain an appreciation for the "current reality" in the world today.
  • Create a vision for the future to which they are committed.
  • Learn skills to help lead their community to the life and world they envision.

Mark your calendars for the week of July 14-18, 2008. Please contact Sallie Scheide at the Center for Responsible Leadership if you have questions or wish to receive an application and nomination form. 989-463-7981 or hsli@alma.edu

We are greatful for the sponsorship of this institute from The Dow Chemical Company. The fee for participation in the High School Leadership Institute is $50.

The application process will stay open until June 5 or until we reach capacity.

You may choose to submit your APPLICATION and NOMINATION forms on line.

Or you may print these forms and return them by mail or fax. Printable APPLICATION and printable NOMINATION forms.

Spring Term courses offer students opportunities to break out of the “Alma Bubble.” Off-campus study, especially in a foreign country, shows you how you relate to the rest of the world and how the rest of the world views American people, politics and policies. You can then integrate your real world experiences into your academic programs and your future career.
