Motivation for Pursuing Honors

Please write an essay that addresses your motivation for seeking Honors at Alma College. Tell us about what kinds of experiences and insights you hope to gain through participating in the Honors Program -- and how you expect those might affect your life beyond Alma. In thinking about Honors at Alma College, what do you envision as central to the liberal arts education you will encounter here? First-Year Honors Seminar

The topic for next year's honors seminar is 'happiness and the good life'.
In an essay of 300 to 400 words, address the following questions: What is your definition of happiness? What, in your view, are the elements of a happy life? Is happiness the only goal in life that really matters?

 

Alma College students have the ability to design their own area of academic concentration, with the assistance of a faculty advisor, to meet specific educational or career goals. In recent years, students have graduated with Programs of Emphasis majors in such fields as arts management, archaeology and anthropology, environmental policy and community advocacy, foreign service and international law, and music technology and digital media.

The business administration major from Monroe has seen first hand the economic effects on southeast Michigan of low-cost imports and Chinese monetary policies.
