Currie Scholars Program Application
A generous grant from Eleanor H. Currie has enabled the College to establish a Currie Scholars program beginning in fiscal year 2001. Qualified sophomores and juniors may apply for this program, which will provide a stipend of $2,500 plus waiver of room charges for the summer (if work is done on campus) to support scholarly or creative projects in collaboration with a faculty mentor.
Scholarship is defined as field or lab work in the sciences or social sciences, library or archival work in the humanities or social sciences, or creation of an original performance or art work in the fine and performing arts. Preference will be given to proposals which identify an appropriate output (e.g., paper presentation, poster session, exhibition, or performance) for the scholarship beyond the Alma campus. The proposal must demonstrate active collaboration between the student and the faculty mentor.
Application forms are available online or in the Provost's Office and are due no later than March 9 with notification by March 26. Applications will be reviewed by a committee consisting of the Dean of Faculty and the chairpersons of the Humanities, Social Science, and Natural Science divisions.
