Why did you choose Alma?
I chose Alma because it gave me an opportunity to get a great teaching education and it was one of the few schools in the state where I was able to get my certificate in four years.
What have you been involved in on-campus?
One of the main things I have been involved in on-campus was football my first two years. I also worked at Pizza Hut 25-30 hours a week all four years I was at Alma.
What do you see as strengths of Alma?
There are several strengths about the Alma teaching program. One of the biggest strengths for me was all of the excellent field placements that I was able to take part in. Alma provided me with the chance to spend a significant amount of time in the classroom five times during my four years of school. The faculty is another one of Alma's strengths. Not only do they guide you to think outside of the box, but their doors are always open to help, and they are willing to put in the extra work. How do you feel Alma has prepared you for teaching?
I feel that Alma has done an excellent job of preparing me for teaching. They have provided me with countless amounts of teaching strategies as well as kept me updated with the ever-changing world of teaching.
Do you have a favorite experience through the Education Department at Alma?
My favorite experience with education was going to Traverse City and
visiting Long Lake Elementary with my Education 440 course and Dr.
Navarro. This field trip was an opportunity to see teachers
teaching for understanding and it was a great learning experience.
