Why did you choose Alma?

I visited many colleges and none of them really felt right. Alma’s atmosphere just felt right to me. Everyone I talked to loved the campus, the faculty, and the students. Fortunately I have not been disappointed one bit. Alma has provided me with many opportunities to play sports, help people, see the world, and learn hands on. I am happy with Alma, and do not regret my decision.

What have you been involved in on-campus?

I have been a member of the basketball, and golf teams respectively. I have also been on the student athletic advisory board, fellowship of student athletes, habitat for humanity, and discovering vocations alternative spring breaks.

What do you see as strengths of Alma?

To me Alma College has many strengths, but the one that most stands out is the relationships one gains. Alma provides students with some of the best professors in the world, who care so much about student success in school but more importantly the real world. Alma’s small quaint campus is great to meet and form strong relationships with fellow students and faculty that will last forever.

How do you feel Alma has prepared you for teaching?

Alma’s philosophy of teaching is learning through experience and that is exactly what they have done for me. The first year of school I was able to get some classroom experience. Every year after that I have had numerous placements with some very influential teachers. Alma has also done a great job making the content knowledge very meaningful to me as a teacher and also an all around individual. I feel very prepared and confident to teach and make a positive difference in the lives of young people.

Do you have a favorite experience through the Education Department at Alma?

Many experiences stick out in my mind at Alma when it comes to education. I have fond memories about my placement teachers, my methods classes, and my amazing education teachers, but all these experiences would not have been as memorable without being through it all with my fellow classmates. Education students are in so many classes together and in a way make a small family. Some of my best friends in the world are also future educators and I am so proud to say that I have experienced college with them. I have learned so much through them and have shared so many laughs and memories with them. I can’t really say there has been one experience that sticks out in my mind just because it seems everyday there is a new experience and new memories formed
