  Spring Term in Ecuador     
 

Goals of the trip:  <img width=

  • To experience and learn about Latin America and the cultures different than your own, including urban Ecuadorian society in Quito, and the indigenous groups;
  • To learn about the history and geography of Ecuador;
  • To experience and learn about three distinct ecosystems; including volcanic islands, the highlands of the Andes Mountains, and the cloud forest.
  • To spend time observing, assisting students and teaching classes in a private school in Ecuador.

Who would be interested in this trip?

This trip is intended for college students interested in advernture, wildlife, hiking, sightseeing, and learning about Ecuador and its indigenous tribes.  It is especially encouraged for education and biology students, as the group spends time in both the schools in Ecuador, and studying the various plants and animals of different biomes.  The emphasis is on learning about life in Ecuador by living with host families, learning about different indigenous communities, and visiting unforgettable places in the most biodiverse country of the world.

Short description of the trip: 

Included in the trip are a tour of Quito, a visit to the Equatorial Monument, visiting indigenous communities in Otavalo, the world famous Otavalo market, and hikes through the Bellavista Cloud Forest Reserve.  Four days are also spent on a tour of the Galapagos Islands on the cruise ship the Galapagos Legend.  These days will be spent hiking, watching wildlife up close and personal, swimming, enjoying the beaches, and snorkeling in crystal clear waters.
